Can RFID technology help the environment?

Many RFID applications are in fact focused on waste management and recycling processes. For instance, RFID can be used to sort objects which do not belong in a landfill or to track radioactive waste, or simply to ensure that the recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous components is managed correctly. Some cities use RFID for waste disposal management by weight – thus encouraging citizens to reduce the volume of waste. In these ways RFID is conserving the environment.
