A Clean Bed for Every Patient
Tracking Beds with RFID
When accidents happen, hospitals have to be ready to accept patients. Accidents just don’t wait.
However, some hospitals don’t have beds prepared when they are needed.
Now, with RFID, hospitals are tracking beds in order to better manage them and make sure they have been cleaned and made when patients arrive.
Using RFID and bed-management software, the hospital’s staff can notify the management automatically when a bed is needed, when it needs to be cleaned and when a bed is ready for the next patient.
Other hospitals, including one in Germany and one in Switzerland, are testing RFID to track beds and mattresses as they move their way through automated cleaning procedures. By eliminating manual errors and speeding the process, RFID can help reduce costs for hospitals and ensure that each patient has a clean bed when needed.
