RFID fills your cup
Refillable mugs equipped with RFID make it quicker and easier to quench your thirst
Several cruise ships and amusement parks are now equipped with a soda fountain that uses RFID to allow guests to fill their own mugs without having to wait for a bartender.
RFID chips are embedded inside special tall mugs that can be purchased as part of a prepaid ‘all-you-can-drink’ soda package. When the mug is brought near the self-service soda fountain, an RFID reader in the fountain recognizes that is it an appropriate mug associated with a properly-funded account, and allows soda to be delivered.
Regular cups or glasses cannot be filled in this way, so guests without an RFID mug must wait to be served by a waitress or bartender.
The RFID system makes getting a soda quicker and more economical for everyone.
