Water park lockers use RFID

With just a wave of their wristband, guests can keep their things safe and dry

A water park and swimming pool complex in California is using RFID to help its visitors keep their valuables safe and dry.

When guests arrive at the center for a day of splashing or swimming, they can pick up a disposable wristband at the customer service desk.

The waterproof and adjustable wristbands are equipped with RFID technology that is programmed to open a locker. Using it is easy: the locker pops open as soon as the guest brings the wristband close to it. The lockers can be open and shut as many times as wanted during the day. When the guest leaves, the chip inside the band is deactivated, and the locker is assigned a new combination on a new wristband.

RFID makes this system particularly convenient and safe for water-park attendees, especially when compared to "traditional" methods of accessing a locker. Thanks to RFID, no more need to remember a combination, no more need to worry about where to put your key while you're swimming.

With RFID, families out for a day of fun in the sun can enjoy the water park with the comfort of knowing their things are locked away, safe and dry.
