RFID doggie-doors allow only your pet to enter
A tag on their collar unlatches the door when they approach
Many busy families have "doggie doors" to allow their pets to enter and exit the house on their own, without needing the help of a person. A small door-within-a-door flips open and shut as pets pass through.
One problem? Although these doors are too small for burglars to use, they are big enough for other dogs and cats to use! Some families have come home to find the neighbor's Labrador nibbling away at their poodle's kibble. Worse, you might come home to find a raccoon or a skunk in your kitchen.
RFID provides a solution: An American company has created an RFID-equipped doggie-dog. An RFID reader on the door scans for the RFID tag you put onto your dog or cat's collar. When your pet comes close to the door, a catch is released and the door opens for its rightful owner.
Thanks to RFID, pets get all the liberties of the doggie-door, and their owners get the peace of mind from knowing that only their dog or cat will be able to use it.
